Celebrating Childhood

It happens almost every day. Our two-year-old sits at the top of the stairs, motions for me to sit next to him, and gestures to the family portrait as he points out, “Mama? Daddy? Baby?” Together, we scoot down the stairs one at a time, studying that portrait, repeating the familiar— delighting in recognition. Oftentimes, he climbs up those same stairs, reaching out to touch his brothers’ artwork hanging on our art gallery wall.

The Home School as Monastery

Saint Benedict (480-547) lived in an era of decline in the Roman Empire. He realized that it was growing difficult to practice true Christianity given the cultural temperature of his day. The Absolute Worst Thing Ever (and homeschool sticking points)

I recently discovered a free app[1] that allows you to scan the bar codes of all the books you own to create a digital catalog of your library. For a bibliophile like me, this is a dream come true. Over a period of several weeks, I eked out five minutes here and five minutes there to go through each bookshelf in my house, scanning my collection. As I went along, a funny thing happened.
