HOOVER, AL 3-Day Practicum
Wednesday, May 22, 2019 (9:00AM) - Friday, May 24, 2019 (4:00PM)

Are you ready to examine the “roots and reasons” for the classical Christian model of education? Are you determined to improve your grasp on the tools of learning? Are you eager to share some fellowship with like-minded parents? Join us this summer at a FREE local 3-Day Practicum as we focus on “Returning to Roots and Reason: The Art of Arithmetic.”

You’ll find a community of local families, eager to explore the classical model of education and tools that make learning all subjects with all their children satisfying. Join us this summer and find out how to study math in a whole new way, with your family!

"Math surrounds our daily lives; we just have to learn to see it and point it out to our children.” Leigh Bortins, Founder

Practicum Student Camps for All Ages!
While you learn, your children learn, too! Economically-priced day camps are available for students of all ages. Several of our Student Camps have fresh new looks this Practicum season! We have an exciting three days planned for all our students, full of learning activities, projects, games, and fun.

Your students are sure to enjoy the group learning environment, whether they are being cared for in our nursery; playing and singing in our play camps; memorizing and drawing God’s world in our geo-drawing camps; or learning through activities and games in our academic camps for older students.  All leaders and volunteers serving in the student camps have had a background check, as well as appropriate training. Advance registration for student camps is required.

**Please note that we plan our staffing needs according to the number of registrations in order to provide a safe, structured learning atmosphere for our students. You may cancel your registration up to one month before the event and receive a full refund. Should you not be able to attend for any reason after that time, your registration is transferable to another event, but not refundable.

Nursery (0–2 years)
Classical Conversations provides quality nursery care for your infants and toddlers so you can enjoy your Parent Practicum. Before dropping off your child, please label all personal belongings. Parents are welcome to pick up and drop off infants as needed. Please bring: Any needed baby items in a labeled bag and a bottle and/or cup with your child’s name clearly marked. A snack will be provided daily, or you may provide your own. Parents are responsible for picking children up and providing lunch during the one-hour lunch break.

Play Camp (3–5 years)
For our younger campers, ages 3-5, Play Camp has been updated to include even more art and games. Campers will enjoy learning to draw using basic shapes, and will create art to bring home to enjoy with the family. Some basic memory work will enhance the activities campers will love. Please bring: Any needed items in a labeled bag, a morning and afternoon snack, and a cup of water with your child’s name clearly marked. Parents are responsible for picking children up and providing lunch during the one-hour lunch break.

GeoDraw Camp (6–8 years)
Geo-Draw Camp for 6-8 year olds has a new cycle-specific format that will encourage campers to dive into the geography of Cycle 2. Campers will learn some basic world geography and focus on the geography and cultures of our Cycle 2 Foundations’ work. Packed with games, art activities, and explorations, this camp will keep your children eager to return each day. Students should bring: Two good erasers, a ruler or straight edge, two pencils, and a daily snack with water (morning and afternoon). Parents are responsible for picking children up and providing lunch during the one-hour lunch break.

Academic Camp: Math Mania (9-14 years)
Brand new this season is Math Mania! Designed for 9-14 year olds, this camp encourages campers to “play with numbers”! We will explore different types of numbers, practice using numbers to solve math mysteries, and even learn to decode some puzzles. With games and activities suitable for younger and older mathematicians, Math Mania promises a “crazy good” time! Students should bring: two pencils and a daily snack with water (morning and afternoon). Parents are responsible for picking children up and providing lunch during the one-hour lunch break.

Learning Latin and Loving It! (11-13 years)
Not only can Latin be “not so tough”, it can also be fun if you learn it with friends! During Latin camp, students will study beginning Latin using a combination of Latin’s Not So Tough and Henle’s 1st Year Latin. Tutors balance the camp day with a mix of memory work, fun, and games. Students should bring: two pencils and a daily snack with water (morning and afternoon). Parents are responsible for picking children up and providing lunch during the one-hour lunch break.

TEEN HELPERS – If you have a responsible student who is at least fourteen years of age, will pass a background check, and is interested in volunteering during this practicum, please contact your support representative Kimberly Patrick at KPatrick@classicalconversations.com.

Registration will open March 1.
