Classical Conversations offers many events throughout the year in various locations to support parents and students along their home schooling journey.
Parent Practicum
Our signature event is a three-day conference with the goal of teaching parents how to teach using the “classical model” of education. A significant portion of our time at the event is spent actually practicing using the classical model, so we call these events Practicums. Morning sessions focus on the classical model in general and afternoon sessions delve deeper into a particular subject. We believe that parents are the best teachers for their children so we dedicate our summers to providing these FREE conferences in as many locations around the world as possible. We offer academic camps for children during the Practicums so your children can learn while you do! There is a charge for the student camps, but parent training is absolutely FREE. We hope you’ll join us this summer at a Parent Practicum near you! Click here to find a Practicum near you.

Toward the Quadrivium
Once a year, Leigh Bortins hosts a two-day conference in which she and guest speakers delve more deeply into the four components that complete a classical education. These components are called the quadrivium simply because there are four of them: arithmetic, geometry, harmonics, and astronomy. From preschool through high school, we primarily focus on the trivium which teaches students to express timeless ideas in three parts: grammar, dialectic, and rhetoric. Adding the four subjects of the quadrivium completes the set and comprises the seven liberal arts. The quadrivium is generally late or post- high school work, but many parents benefit from seeing the end goal and have that in mind as they teach younger children, and to keep it in mind as they make decisions about post-high school opportunities.
Speakers discuss how we can raise a generation of leaders who are life-long learners, educated and articulate citizens, virtuous men and women, and noble servants of God. Click here for dates and locations. {Provide links}
