Join other CC Graduates in a high seas celebration

2016 Capstone Cruise Graduates

Twenty-one Classical Conversations students participated in its first ever Capstone Cruise Graduation last May. Now that the graduation has been made an annual event, organizers expect the numbers of graduates to increase as rapidly as CC itself.

The graduation celebration, while on a five-day, four-night cruise to the Bahamas, is open to any CC student in Challenge III or IV who is completing his high school education this year.

The March 1 deadline to register for the graduation is fast approaching. If you have already made a cruise reservation but not paid the full amount, the full amount is due Feb. 15. Graduates must register for the graduation and pay the $50 graduation fee by March 1, which is also the deadline for CC’s cruise registration. Family and friends can still purchase cruise tickets after the deadline, but they will no longer be guaranteed availability or the CC ticket price of $325.

While the cruise focuses on the graduation ceremony and the National Memory Master and National Number Knockout championships, the cruise is open to grandparents, siblings, friends, even CC families or couples just looking for a great cruise price with hundreds of other likeminded families.

Many of last year’s graduates and their parents formed friendships that appear destined to stand the test of time, so much so that there is already talk of cruise reunions in the future.

The graduation celebration has the theme of “Honor Thy Father and Mother” and will be on board the Carnival Liberty cruise ship, April 30-May 4, and will be hosted by CC founders Rob and Leigh Bortins.

“Last year’s cruise was the most fun time I have ever had on a cruise!” Leigh said. “We had almost 400 people join us last year, and it was such a success that we have decided to make it an annual event! We look forward to many more capstone cruises in the future.”

The 2017 Capstone Cruise will depart from Port Canaveral, Florida, Sunday, April 30, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. and will return to port at 8 a.m. on Thursday, May 4.
